Dominic Barberi - Bass/Baritone

Dominic Barberi has recently completed his BMus(Hons) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying under Stephen Robertson.

Winner of the Jean Highgate Scholarship for Singers at the end of his first year, he has sung in the final of the Frank Spedding Lieder Prize Competition.He went on to represent the Conservatoire in the Junior Kathleen Ferrier Competition.

Operatically he has performed the role of ‘Jacquot’ in Prokofiev’s War and Peace and understudied the role of ‘Bartolo’ in Mozart’s Le Nozze Di Figaro. In scenes he has sung ‘Figaro’ in Le Nozze Di Figaro, ‘Bartolo’ and ‘Figaro’ in Rossini’s Il Barbiere Di Siviglia, ‘Mustafa’ in Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri and ‘Don Alfonso’ in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte.

He has sung as ‘Colline’ in Puccini’s La Boheme and ‘Claggart’ in Britten‘s Billy Budd as part of the Royal Scottish Academy’s MMus Opera Scenes.

He most recently sang the role of ‘The Speaker’ and understudied the role of ‘Sarastro’ in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in the Royal Conservatoire’s Production directed by William Relton.

He has performed the role of ‘The Trojan Man’ in Mozart’s Idomeneo under the direction of Sir Roger Norrington in the Edinburgh Festival.

Solo engagements have included Bach St John Passion, Handel Messiah, Rossini Petite Messe Solenelle, Brahms Requiem, Mendelssohn Elijah, Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs and Michael Tippett’s A Child of Our Time.

Dominic has performed in master classes with Geoffrey Lloyd Roberts, Mark Padmore, Adrian Thompson, Roderick Williams, Malcolm Martineau and most recently with Jane Eaglen.

This summer he sang in the Bayreuth Festspielchor.
