St Margaret's School for Girls

St Margaret's School for Girls is the oldest girls' school in Scotland and the only single-sex school in Aberdeen. St Margaret's offers a first-class education to girls from Nursery through to sixth year and is recognised as one of the top academic schools in Scotland.

As well as academic excellence, the school enjoys an enviable reputation for music, art and design, drama and sport. It also offers a wide choice of subjects and extra-curricular activities including rowing, Choi Kwang Do, Film Club, Eco Club and many more. The girls are encouraged to aim high and to be responsible citizens and effective contributors to school life.

The Music Department has three choirs, a concert band, three string ensembles, an orchestra, a music technology group and four chamber ensembles. In recent years the Music Department has undertaken music tours to Berlin, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Austria and the USA. The Music Department gives regular performances in public venues in Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Music is a particular strength of St Margaret's, with girls as young as five having the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of instruments. Our ensembles, orchestras and choirs form an important part of school life.
