Jacques Imbrailo Baritone

South African baritone Jacques Imbrailo completed a BA Law degree and a BMus degree Cum Laude at the Potchefstroom University in South Africa in 2002 under Prof. Werner Nel, followed by post-graduate opera studies at the RCM under Ryland Davies. Awards include runner-up at the South African Music Rights Organization International Scholarship competition, winner of the Distell National Singing Competition in South Africa and second prize at the Richard Tauber singing competition 2005. Opera includes Tarquinius The Rape of Lucretia and Guglielmo Cosí fan tutte at RCM, Mercutio Romeo et Juliette for BYO He has performed extensively in South Africa and England, including lieder recitals and concert programmes. Oratorio performances include Bach St John Passion, Handel Messiah, Brahms Requiem, Fauré Requiem and Durufle Requiem. He has attended masterclasses with Mimi Coertze, Helmut Deutch, Sven Bjorkoy, Kobie Van Rensburg, Thomas Hampson, Thomas Allan, Gerald Finley and Christa Ludwig. An EMI recording of Purcell works with Kings College Cambridge and the OAE will be released early 2006.

Plans include performances of Mozarts Grabmusik with the Classical Opera Company in the Wigmore Hall, Ireland and Italy as well as Gugliemo in Cosi fan tutti with the COC in Ireland, England and Italy. He is represented by IMG Artists and supported by the Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation, the Ernst Oppenheimer Trust, the Countess of Munster Musical trust and the Tillet trust. He will join the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme of the Royal Opera House in September 2006.
